Depending on depth rating that volume could be a lot. To me it feels safer to oil fill. An air compensated pod would be dangerous if it lost its air. I guess you could increase the size of your drop weight to compensate for flooded pods. I wonder what the effect on buoyancy would be with added air volume weight.
