Those little Honda generators are quite amazing , very compact, quite, and they sip the gasoline. I noticed a lot of sailboat people would use them for house power instead of firing up they're onboard engines, they would set them out on the bow. </div><div> </div><div> </div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3138">Brian <br clear="none"><br clear="none">--- personal_submersibles@psubs.org wrote:<br clear="none"><br clear="none">From: Alan via Personal_Submersibles <personal_submersibles@psubs.org><br clear="none">To: Personal Submersibles General Discussion <personal_submersibles@psubs.org><br clear="none">Subject: Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] temporary propulsion<br clear="none">Date: Sat, 22 Oct 2016 07:49:04 +1300<br clear="none"><br clear="none"></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3139">Hi Brian,</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3140">what happened to the high powered motors you were looking at a while back?</div><div>These motors are huge & only put out 1/3 rd horsepower. I'm thinking that for the time being I'm just going to run ( on the surface) a 2000 watt Honda generator and then for the motors , use these 1/3 HP dryer motors in a oil flooded housing, probably made out of aluminum tubing. They obviously run with 120 V AC power. </div><div> </div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3147"> Since on my sub I will have dual motors on each side, port and starboard, I was thinking to also have additional motors facing foreword to stop my foreword progress ( a brake) . </div><div> </div><div> These dryer motors can be got really cheap , new they're about $75.00 I'm pretty sure they would be ok flooded with oil. So I would have a total of 4 motors , two on each side one going frontwards and one opposing . It would be a totally on or off drive of course , with no speed control. </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Here's a video of the motors I'm talking about. </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIrCUh1S8x8" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIrCUh1S8x8</a></div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Brian</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div></div></div></blockquote></div><blockquote id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3151"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3150"><span>_______________________________________________</span><br clear="none"><span>Personal_Submersibles mailing list</span><br clear="none"><span><a href="mailto:Personal_Submersibles@psubs.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect" ymailto="mailto:Personal_Submersibles@psubs.org">Personal_Submersibles@psubs.org</a></span><br clear="none"><span id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3149"><a id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1477097658256_3148" href="http://www.psubs.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/personal_submersibles" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect">http://www.psubs.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/personal_submersibles</a></span><br clear="none"></div></blockquote>_______________________________________________
