Alarms are located on the left side <br clear="none" class="">under the yellow/black warning graphic. Each one functions as both an <br clear="none" class="">alert and alarm. For example, a yellow alert lights up "DEPTH" at 500 <br clear="none" class="">feet to warn of approaching maximum depth. At 600 feet it turns into a <br clear="none" class="">red alarm. These alerts and alarms can only be disengaged by retreating <br clear="none" class="">back to a non-alarm operating environment (ie.. decreasing depth to less <br clear="none" class="">than 500 feet). Audio alerts will accompany the visual ones.<br clear="none" class=""><br clear="none" class="">Depth is available on all displays in the lower left corner. Data <br clear="none" class="">logging is included and can be written to a USB drive and 'replayed' on <br clear="none" class="">any other computer that has the same software on it or even imported <br clear="none" class="">into something like a spreadsheet. However, if I end up with a tablet I <br clear="none" class="">will likely log there directly.<br clear="none" class=""><br clear="none" class="">Battery information will be added when I get those sensors. This design lends itself well to semi-automated control, for example typing in a <br clear="none" class="">target depth of 100 feet and then letting the computer operate the <br clear="none" class="">motors and monitor vertical rate of descent/ascent, slow down when <br clear="none" class="">approaching the target depth, and then shutting off the motors at/near <br clear="none" class="">target depth.<br clear="none" class=""><br clear="none" class="">A more distant and advanced project would be, I don't know, maybe <br clear="none" class="">inertial navigation using an IMU.<br clear="none" class=""><br clear="none" class="">Jon<br clear="none" class=""><br clear="none" class=""><br clear="none" class="">On 8/10/2015 12:19 PM, Cliff Redus via Personal_Submersibles wrote:<br clear="none" class=""></pre><blockquote class="yiv4489432602gmail_quote" style="margin: 0pt 0pt 1ex 0.8ex; border-left-width: 1px; border-left-style: solid; border-left-color: rgb(114, 159, 207); padding-left: 1ex;">Jon, your first pass at HMI for your boat looks good. I like the<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">overall layout and data seems to be presented in logical and<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">straightforward manner. I think it would easy for someone other than<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">yourself to get the state of the boat from this HMI.<br clear="none" class=""><br clear="none" class="">On your DIVE panel, I would add a couple of items. ! The first is the<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">battery SOC and air SOF(state of Fill, 0-100%). These are key<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">items for the home screen. Also, I would add a proximity switch on<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">hatch so that the hatch state is shown. This can also be used to<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">lockout diving the boat unless the hatch switch is closed. Also I<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">would add Altitude. Airmar has a sensor called the DST800 that gives<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">boat speed, depth (altitude) and water temperature. Signals comes in<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">as a RS-232 ASCII string that you parse. On the NAV screen, I would<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">include depth and altitude. On HIST screen, rather than looking at<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">min and max on key variable's, I would recommend that up set up data<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">logging and log all ship systems say every minute. Most PLCs and<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">associated HMIs have data logging capabilities. This allows you to<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">download all sensor measurements and switch states as a function of<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">time. This is useful to analyze how the boat performed after the dive<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br clear="none" class="">and also serves a Black Box for the sub.
