Rick,Look forward to hearing what went wrong.BTW I built an adjustable 2nd stage regulator with up to 8psi over pressure. It would have picked that problem up before you got in the water.I did a post on it on Psubs Facebook page,Sept 2023.Regards Alan

Totally agree with James. If it leaked in 8" it's probably a forgotten or misaligned O-ring, or some such assembly issue, rather than the seals.

Rick,I've heard that the seals in the Minn Kottas are good for 30 - 100ft. So regardless of the compensation, it shouldn't have leaked past the 2 shaft seals.Perhaps one of the large o-rings that seal the motor sections together was pinched when it was put together. I wonder if the water was coming in to the hull through the motor wiring shaft. All the best.Alan

I did have the air comp on but I didn't dive it, just stayed at the dock to add weight where needed to plumb her out so with the thruster just 8" submerged maybe the second stage reg isn't as accurate at the surface? Keep you all posted as I proceed.

Rick,if it's just the thruster & not the electronics you could open her up, rinse well with fresh water, dry & re-assemble. You will probably have corrosion in the wiring caused by wicking ( wire hot after operation sucks in water as it cools). You can replace the wiring but will probably get away with it seeing the wiring should be reasonably thick.Did you not have air compensation?Regards Alan
