Hey that went by fast. Please note that 2026 puts us on the cusp of 30 years as an organization depending upon how you interpret our conception.? While we utilized the technology of a mailing list for the first time in Feb 1997 (which was novel at the time believe it or not), submarine discussions between participants had been occurring using good ole' email "cc" function since 1996.? Regardless of where we put a stake in the ground, we are reaching a milestone. 2) Islamorada PC2026 Patch. I want to thank David Colombo for designing our patch (see attached file) for the Islamorada convention in February 2026.? Anyone attending in person will receive one as a gift. 3) PC2026 - Islamorada, Feb 11-14, 2026. We currently have five vessels attending (see website) and invite you to bring yours as well regardless of whether it is divable, under construction, or currently functioning as a lawn ornament.? Our technical sessions and public display occurring on Feb 14, 2026 are "likely" to be located at REEF.ORG in Key Largo, Florida although a definitive decision is yet to be made.? As always, check the website for the most recent and up-to-date information. IMPORTANT: If you are attending in-person, make sure you register on the website so we know how many people to expect. Surface Support - we are still seeking surface support in the form of boats and divers.? If you, or someone you know, are interested in joining the dive team in a support role, please contact myself (admin at psubs.org) or any of the vessel pilots (see website). Technical Session - We have one or two open slots for anyone who would like to make a presentation to the group.? If you are interested in sharing updates on your projects or have some other interesting topic to share, please contact me at admin at psubs.org USCG Invitation - I sent a formal invitation requesting a USCG representative at PC2026 and have heard through the grapevine that our representative there has been encouraged to attend.? My intention is to carve out at least 60-90 minutes from the technical sessions to hold a private brainstorming session with the submarine owners and pilots in attendance, so each of you should be prepared to speak about what is important to you. 4) USCG Regulations? PSUBS submitted our proposal for regulation revision to the USCG at the end of November.? While our proposal encompassed the entire non-military industry, it emphasized and concentrated on protection of rights for privately owned submarines in the PSUBS domain.? The USCG acknowledged receipt of the proposal and it was forwarded to the Commandants team that is a formulating a directive relative to the TITAN Marine Board Investigation Report.? The Commandants directive could be anything from "nothing to see here" to "we need to shut down everything".? The conventional wisdom is that the Commandant will order a workgroup to be formed to make recommendations for any regulatory changes that might be deemed necessary.? The USCG has informed me that they believe PSUBS participation in that workgroup is important and so I am pleased that we will have a seat at that table.? More to come as this progresses through 2026 and beyond. Jon -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
