I assumed that since the sphere has a high pressure rating and would just be used for buoyancy, it could be used under pressure. Of coarse there would be a small loss of buoyancy, but it would go much deeper.

Assuming that the quoted diameter is correct, and that
there exists
a slight discrepancy from the quoted weight (which could
be the
fitting shown in the EBay photographs), I get a wall
thickness of
about 3/16", and a 1500' operating depth for
that sphere:
