The internal holding bulkhead doors are not usually closed, a direct hit would cause instant flooding. Assume it didn't than the first order of business would be damage control. Also if the boat did not settle in the upright position / even keel that would be a problem.
There were some documented escapes, USS Tang comes to mind.
